2018 NJ Real Estate Referral License Law Change

In 2018 the original Referral Agent license type was replaced by the license type Salesperson (Referral) in order to bring the NJ law in line with federal unemployment law. 


This did not change the referral agent exemption from continuing education or the restricts imposed on referral agents by the real estate commission. The full list of restrictions is available below.


If you wish to do business as a full service real estate agent you may transfer your salesperson or broker salesperson license to a full service brokerage like RE/MAX Preferred. In order to change your license type you will need to complete a certain amount of continuing education based on how long your license was a referral license type.
